Grand Celebration of World Environment Day

On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Zilla Paryavaran Sudhar Samiti organised a grand event at Krishna Guest House, Hamiri Road, in Jhunjhunu. The programme commenced with women tying sacred threads on khejri, the state tree, and adorning it with garlands. This symbolic gesture marked the beginning of the event, followed by the plantation of peepal, jamun, orange and date saplings. As the women planted the saplings, they sang mangal geet (auspicious songs), filling the atmosphere with positivity and devotion.

The event was graced by several distinguished personalities, including Pawan Pujari, former vice-president of the municipal council, Mahendra Singh Bhati, Scout Guide leader, Basant Balan, BJP’s media in-charge from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, Umashankar Manhmia, senior member of the Brahmin community, and Advocate Anju Sharma, who presided over the programme with her esteemed presence.

Each speaker emphasised the importance of environmental purification, sharing valuable perspectives on conservation. Rajesh Agarwal, Secretary of the organising committee, highlighted that relying solely on the Forest Department for environmental protection would not suffice. He stressed that common citizens must stand up, take responsibility, and actively fight for conservation. He further urged that along with planting trees, preventing unnecessary tree felling was equally crucial. To combat globalisation and climate change, he advocated for reducing the use of plastic.

A significant contribution was made by Pitamji Godara, a motivational speaker from the Save Food Movement, who passionately encouraged people to join the campaign for food conservation. The audience was deeply moved by the soulful musical performance of Zakir Abbasi, a renowned Shekhawati singer, who sang inspiring melodies in support of environmental protection.

This impactful event successfully underscored the collective responsibility of society in preserving nature. With dedicated efforts from environmentalists, community leaders, and cultural contributors, the programme served as a beacon of hope, awareness, and action for a greener future.
